How to deal with having an off day is something that can’t be avoided, we all have them and on Monday 23rd & Tuesday 24 November I was not firing on all cylinders and was feeling pretty drained and run down. it was my day or should I say days, for an off day/days, that set me up for feeling like a bear with a sore head.
How to deal with having an off day is an inevitable event that we all experience in our lives. Like shoes, we all have them.
As entrepreneurs building a business on-line, we are under constant pressure to keep things moving along, even those of us who are not building businesses on-line and have day jobs to go to, we still feel that responsibility that we must show up.
There are times when we all have an off day or a series of off days which throws us completely out of sync and means we have to leave things undone and incomplete.
At times this can have a real mental impact which makes you think you need to get on with things no matter what or how you are feeling.
I know in the past I would have probably forced myself to get on with things regardless of how bad I was feeling and attempt to soldier on through with camo paint on face!! (not really).
I have learnt that trying to fight on does not help, in fact, it only serves to set you further back than you would have been had you just left everything for when you are feeling good and ready to take on the day.
You see, I found that when you attempt to do things when you are not up for it, either because you are not feeling 100% or you are just simply not in the right mindset, you will make such a hash of what it is you are trying to do.
When you take a look at it when you are 100% and in the right creative mindset, you only end up trashing it and starting over from scratch because you are not happy with the work you have done.
So… what is the point in attempting to do something like write an article or design a new creative when you are not at your best and in the now and flow or creativity.
You cannot force creativity especially if you are just not feeling it, it has to come from a place within that is pure of thought and is coming from the moment of now. That is when I find my best work comes out.
So any time I feel like I have a block when writing something new or if something just does not flow in the moment, I simply leave it and return to it the next day or whenever that creative inspiration comes.
There are times when things seem to come together without much effort and just flows. Those are great days and invariably are the days when you create some of your best work.
So the nest time you are feeling off key, maybe that is day you just take time out to reflect and recharge those dwindling batteries, ready for when your creative genius is back on form and ready to create your next masterpiece.
